That's a really nice photography
of very accurately done costumes.

It's probably exactly like the view would be
if one stood beside a real battle of that time,
(before the viewer gets shot, while standing there and looking...).

Ah, I felt exactly the same way at my first large scale reenactment, the Battle of the Arges (Romanian, WW1) held at the 1-2 Battery, Mogosoaia in 2006. My ears were ringing for days. Of course, it helped that I was lying too close to the machinegun...

Lying too close to the machine gun, oh dear... I guess it's the same as you "die" near some cannon.
Since 2008 I had much better reenactments tho : D The artist's comment lies now haha.

Well, I wasn't dead when I dropped down near the machinegun, just stupid enough...
And indeed, the same thing happened to me, since my first one I had much better reenactments. Well, if you count out my last one (exactly one month ago) when I charged up a redoubt and jumped the parapet so enthusiasticly I broke a rib...

Much better, thanks. It hurt like bitch every time I took a breath, but now I only feel it when I have to do an awkward movement like bending down under the table to retrieve a lost pen or something.

The lesson to learn here is don't over do it and when you fall always look where you're going to land.

I got injured at the very top of the parapet when I was supposed to fall down dead, because there was a tent peg sticking from between two hay bales which I didn't see with all the draped camo netting. I dove over the parapet, felt a jolt to the left side of my chest which knocked the wind out of my lungs, then rolled back down the slope...

Here's an image showing me trying to control the slide back down the redoubt with the butt of my rifle.
At that point my comrades hadn't even realised I've been hurt, and indeed I was unable to speak for about five minutes or so: [link]

Luckily that was at the end of the event.

By the way, I've been having a lot of nice discussions with :icontttroy:

Having a shot of your bad experience, well that's something. I'm seriously praying for not get badly injured in future, but one never know when the moment comes... But I'll take your experience as an advice >>

Yeah, you two should have more common interests xD

Yeah, reenactments can get dangerous, especially if you get spooked horses running around. Also, I know a guy who got his face burned (fortunately not gravely) when his musket didn't go off and he looked into the pan to see what's causing the problem. His opening the pan caused the smouldering powder to finally catch...

Yeah, to you I'm writing two lines of text, with her it's more like long-form nonfiction...

When I look at this picture, I can almost feel the tension in the air. From where I'm sitting this picture looks to have been taken that last long moment before the shots rip through the air, where everyone is holding their breath, just waiting.

Sorry, got a little lame in my comment, but I like this picture :)
